In The Beginning…
The first day of anything is often the scariest and after several years of thinking about writing and publishing a children’s book, I am finally taking the first big step to making it a reality. The day I decided to put pen to paper and begin my process of bringing my favorite furry buddy, Elvis the Pug to life was both terrifying and exhilarating.
It was terrifying, because the moment I emotionally and physically made the choice to do it, my mind staring playing amazing mental games with me. I immediately thought, “What if I write a really bad story?”. “What if nobody buys my book?”, I asked myself. And the most important question to me, “What if I don’t do justice to the most wonderful dog I have ever known?” So many fears raced through my head and threatened to stop me before I could even get started.
It was exhilarating, because it turns out I was fully committed and those initial doubts were easily overcome by the strength of my vision. Now, after many months of work, it is all beginning to come together. On December 6th, 2022, The Adventures of Wembly the Pug will be released to the world and I will have realized one of my personal dreams.
You may be wondering why, if my dog’s name is Elvis, is the main character now named Wembly? And, that is a very good question that I have a very good answer for. Look for that answer in a future post...
I have learned so much in the process of creating this book and I am more and more impressed with all the authors who have had the courage to step out and share their stories with the world. Over the course of the next many months, I will attempt to share with you my journey from idea to the creation of this book and about all the wonderful lessons I have learned along the way.
